At Campus Stack, our Thursday nights are usually filled with the sound of mechanical keyboards, students intense in thought over CTF challenges, and collaborative brainstorming during our weekly Cybernights. But on Thursday, October 23rd, we decided to trade our terminal screens for the big screen and host our first-ever Halloween Movie Night!
We wanted to bring everyone together for a relaxed, fun evening to get into the Halloween spirit, and the Campus Stack Zone (BST.J.1.202) was the perfect venue to pull it off.

Hacking in the Back, Horror in the Front
One of the coolest parts of the evening was how the community naturally blended together. Because the movies started right after our usual Cybernight hours, the energy in the room was awesome. We had students who were still deeply invested in solving their cybersecurity challenges keeping their laptops open in the back, hacking away quietly, while the rest of the room grabbed the best spots to watch the films.
Howest graciously provided the drinks and snacks to keep our energy up, and the crew showed up prepared—loaded with blankets and pillows to transform our usual tech hub into the ultimate cozy cinema zone.
The Double Feature Lineup
We picked two incredible films to kick off our movie night traditions, balancing laughs with genuine scares:
- 🧟 Movie 1: Shaun of the Dead (6:30 PM – 8:15 PM) We started the night with the perfect mix of British comedy and zombie survival. It was a great icebreaker, filled with laughs and plenty of iconic moments that the whole room enjoyed.
- 👻 Movie 2: The Conjuring (8:30 PM – 10:00 PM) As the night grew darker, we switched gears to pure supernatural terror. Watching Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate the haunted farmhouse had the entire room on edge. There’s nothing quite like a room full of IT students jumping at the exact same jump scares!
Building Our Community Beyond the Tech
As Community Manager, seeing the Campus Stack Zone filled with students unwinding, laughing, and just hanging out together is exactly why we start these initiatives. Cybersecurity and IT can be intense fields of study, and having a space where you can transition from high-level technical problem solving to a relaxed movie night with friends is so important for building a tight-knit community.
A massive thank you to everyone who brought the cozy vibes, to Howest for supporting us with the snacks, and to the entire Campus Stack Team for helping organize it.
This was our first movie night, but given how much fun it was, it definitely won’t be our last. Stay tuned to the Discord for what we’re planning next! 🎬🍿
